What is Granite Peaks? (top)
Granite Peaks is an integral part of Granite School District. We provide comprehensive programs for patrons of all ages. Granite Peaks encompasses the following programs:
- Community Education - classes for enrichment, career development, and fun.
- Adult Education - adult basic education and high school completion, GED preparation, and ESOL.
- Granite Peaks High School (previously Central High )- core and elective classes for 10-12 grade students.
- Independent Study - full or part time program to master high school course work.
- Young Parents Program - Program for 9-12 grade students who have children or are pregnant.
- Mill Hollow - Educational camps and retreats in the heart of the Uinta mountains.

How can I register for classes? (top)
Granite Peaks offers five easy ways to register for community education.
- Online at granitepeaks.org. Set up student profile, select courses and securely pay online with a Visa or MasterCard.
- Phone in- Call school where class is held or the Community Education office at 385-646-5439. Have catalog and Visa or MasterCard ready.
- Mail in- Clip the registration form from the inside back cover of the most recent catalog. Make checks payable to Granite Peaks. Mail registration form and check to the campus where class is held.
- Fax- Complete registration form on the inside back cover of the catalog. Include personal contact numbers. Fax to Community Education at 385-646-4667. Someone will call you so you may privately relay your credit card information and expiration date.
- In person- Sign up at the campus you wish to attend. Registration office hours are listed in each catalog.
How do I create a website account and profile? (top)
Use granitepeaks.org to register for classes, apply for work or find out about instructors. It is fast, easy and safe. To create a new account, click sign in(left column). Click on create new student profile. Choose what type of profile you prefer. If you have family members or an established group, select create a household profile.
How do I sign up for community education classes online? (top)
Go to granitepeaks.org. After setting up a student profile, select courses (left column) and shop! Classes are easily found on the web by clicking the subcategories (words in each column) under each category. Categories are the bold words on the top row, and include the following: Home, Arts, Play, Work, Youth and Education. Lost? Use the search feature (left column).
Can I sign up friends or family members for classes? (top)
Signing up a friend is easy at granitepeaks.org. In fact, receive a 10% discount if three of more family or friends are signed up for the same class within the same transaction. Some friends or family may already be listed as part of a household profile. If so, select the class and check the names of household members to enroll. If you have a student profile, select a class, fill in the number of friends and family who will attend, and then list the names of participants.
How can I pay for classes? (top)
If you register online, by phone or with a fax, you may securely pay with a Visa or MasterCard. Checks made out to Granite Peaks may be mailed. Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted for in-person registration.
Do you offer discounts? (top)
Yes! Senior citizens, ages 60 and over, and Granite School District employees may receive a 10% discount on community education classes. Registration for three or more people for the same class within the same transaction may also receive a 10% discount.
Look for other unique promotions and discounts each term.
What is your refund policy? (top)
Tuition may be refunded in full before the class meets. Credit vouchers will be given after the class has met. Refunds for checks are given after the check has cleared. Refunds for checks or cash may take up to three weeks.
What happens if a class is cancelled? (top)
Class cancellations are possible due to limited enrollment or unforeseen events. Credit vouchers or refunds will be given. Please select another class! Refunds for checks are given after the check has cleared.
Do you offer gift certificates? (top)
Yes! Give the gift of learning at Granite Peaks. Call the Community Education office at 385-646-5439 or email granitepeaks@graniteschools.org for assistance. We create gift certificates for any amount that may be redeemed within one year.
How do I sign up for one of the pool programs in Granite School District? (top)
Evening classes at the Granite School District pools are under the direction of Granite Peaks Lifelong Learning. Swim lessons, lap swimming, water aerobics and/or open plunge at Granite District pools are available each quarter if there is sufficient participation to cover costs. Swim passes must be purchased in advance at any Granite Peaks Community Education campus. Please note that the water temperatures are set for competitive swimming, which is generally colder than most public pools. How do I enroll in Granite Peaks High School? (top)
Granite Peaks High School (previously Central High) is the “smart alternative”. The school offers core and elective classes for tenth through twelfth grade students in Granite School District. The Independent Study program is also available to help students who qualify complete high school course work on a full or part time basis. Granite Peaks High School is located within the Granite Peaks Learning Center at 501 East 3900 South, 385-646-5435. Prospective students need to be residents of Granite School District and are referred by counselors in each Granite School District high school. Students, parents and guardians are invited to an orientation to help bridge the transition to Granite Peaks High.
How do I enroll in the Young Parent Program? (top)
The Young Parents Program is a vital part of Granite Peaks located at 5300 West Cherrywood Lane, 801-964-7628. Young Parents serves ninth through twelfth grade Granite School District students who have children or are pregnant. Transportation and child care are available. How do I pursue a GED or adult high school diploma? (top)
Granite Peaks is the perfect place to complete the requirements for a high school diploma or prepare for the GED. Each campus offers open enrollment and a weekly orientation to help students create a workable plan. The following campuses offer adult high school services and weekly orientations at 6:30 pm:
- Granite Peaks Learning Center -- Mondays
- Granger High --Tuesdays
- Hunter High -- Tuesdays
- Kearns High -- Tuesdays
- Taylorsville High – Tuesday

How much is the adult education tuition? (top)
Granite Peaks offers bargain prices for convenient and quality education. Each trimester students pay a nonrefundable $30 registration/orientation fee. Each subsequent class is $5.
Do you have adult high school commencements? (top)
Graduation is a special event at Granite Peaks. Caps and gowns, professional photography, student speakers and enthusiastic acknowledgments make each ceremony a day to remember. Consult with your adult education campus and mark your calendar for the next adult high school commencement.
How can I get a copy of my transcript or high school diploma? (top)
Granite Peaks keeps careful records of the students and graduates who have participated in the evening adult high school programs. To request a copy of your transcript or diploma, call 385-646-4666. If you graduated through a Granite School District day high school, please contact that school for assistance.
How do I enroll in English classes (ESL)? (top)
Several Granite Peaks campuses offer six levels of English instruction for non native speakers. Enrollment is open. Day classes are currently offered at the Wilson annex (2825 South 200 East, 385-646-4363). Evening classes are offered at the Granite Peaks Learning Center, Granger High and Kearns High. How much is the ESL tuition? (top)
English classes are the best deal in town! Each trimester evening ESL classes cost $30 and ESL day classes cost $40.
How can I make reservations for Mill Hollow? (top)
Mill Hollow is a jewel in the heart of the Uinta mountains, perfect for a retreat, family reunion or group event. To reserve the yurt (year-round) or group cabins (summer), call 385-646-4668.
